This dish is known and Jaeyouk Bokum. “Jayouk Bokum” or “Jeyuk Bokkeum” (제육볶음) is a popular Korean dish made with spicy marinated pork stir-fried with vegetables.
There are many many variations of this dish and today we are going to see a variation that works beautifully with few common items we can get from a good Asian Grocery store
Spicy Korean Pork Stir Fry
Ingredients
To make Jayouk Bokum, you will need:
- 1 pound of pork shoulder or pork belly, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced into big pieces
- 4 large green chillies sliced
- 6 cloves of garlic, peeled and finely minced
- 2 tablespoon of pure sesame oil
- 1 table spoon ginger garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of hot chili oil
- 1/2 cup of Korean chili paste (gochujang)
- 1 tablespoon of Chilli flakes
- 2 cups baby Bok choy
- 1 cup bamboo shoots
- 3 spring onions sliced

Here’s how to make it:

- In a bowl, take red onions green chillies and add pork.
- Add ginger garlic paste and fresh minced garlic.
- Mix together the Sesame oil, hot oil, honey and rice wine and add to the meat.
- Next add Korean chili paste (gochujang).
- Now add Soy sauce and mix well.
- Add Chilli flakes, Baby Bok Choy and Bamboo shoots.
- Add chopped spring onions and mix all the ingredients gently and ensure all the meat is coated properly.
- Let the pork and vegetables marinate for at least 1 hour, and preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
- Before cooking take the bowl out from the refrigerator and let it stand for about 15 minutes before tossing it in the skillet.
- Heat the skillet to medium high heat. Add a splash of sesame oil.
- Carefully add some of the marinated meat and vegetables to the hot skillet and fry well until meat is fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once done, remove from the skillet and transfer to serving bowl.
- Awesome Spicy Korean Pork Stir fry ready.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
