Simple Pork and Peas curry

This is one of my easiest pork curry recipe while not using any curry powder or garam masala powder. I am using boneless pork rib cuts with all the fat and trimmings. And cooking on the Instant Pot makes it so much easier and cleanup is a breeze

Lets look at the ingredients required for this dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb boneless pork rib cuts with fat
  • Spices listed below
    • 1 teaspoon paprika or chili powder
    • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper powder
    • 1 teaspoon table salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 1 tablespoon Everest or National brand Meat Masala powder
  • Yogurt
  • Coconut milk
  • Frozen Peas
  • One medium red onion
  • Canola oil
Chopped Pork boneless rib

Prep time: 5 minutes,


Cook time: Instant Pot – Saute – 5 minutes – Pressure cook – 25 minutes

Cool down time : 10 minutes

Total Time: About 45 minutes (less than 10 minutes of work total)

Steps

  • Cut about 2 lb pork boneless ribs to bite sized pieces and place in mixing bowl
  • Add all the dry spice items to chopped pork pieces and mix them well
  • Set the Saute function on medium and for 20 minutes and turn on Instant Pot
  • Add some oil and let it heat up
  • Add finely sliced red onions and fry them for about 5 minutes
  • Once browned, add the pork mixed with the spices
  • Add 3/4 cup yogurt
  • Add 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • Add about 1 cup frozen peas
  • Switch off saute in Instant Pot and select Meat-Stew function
  • Set temperature to medium and time to 25 minutes.
  • Switch on the Instant Pot and close the lid securely
  • After Instant pot is done with cooking, let it cool for about 10 minutes before releasing the pressure
Pork with Peas Curry

Enjoy the pork curry with basmati rice, bread, roti or naan.

Tips

  • To make this a bit more spicy add 1 extra teaspoon of chilly powder and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder.
  • Add 1 cup of water, after adding coconut milk to make the dish less thick
  • Add salt as the recipe calls for. You can always add more after cooking as well
