Imagine you are coming home on a cold rainy day and you crave for a hot filling spicy beef fry. Check the fridge, check the takeout menus, see what you can put together in 20 minutes or less and then you stumble across this bookmarked link to a simple tasty dish that you can make at home in the time it takes to order and pickup a takeout, we have a winner here.
I have cooked this particular dish so many times, its easily one of our favorite beef fry dish. Its so simple to make and most of the ingredients are off the shelf powdered varieties. Its just the right mix of spices, the ratios and the cooking method that gives the great taste. All my recipes has the standard format, a list of ingredients, steps to make the dish, Tips and some pictures of the dish itself. Now let’s get started.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs – Beef Round Steak/Rib-eye – cut into 1/2 inch pieces
- Dry Spice powder mix
- 1 tbsp Ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp Red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp granulated sugar
- 3/4 tbsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tbsp ginger powder
- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp anise seed
- 2 medium onion – finely chopped
- 6 fresh green chillies
- Some fresh curry leaves
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
Steps
- Add beef and all the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl
- Heat oil in a medium wok or non stick cooking pan
- Add sliced onions and fry till golden brown

Now add cut green chillies and curry leaves

Fry for about 1 minute

Add the beef mixed with dry ingredients.

Turn to high heat and cook until the meat is completely sealed and starts turning to dark brown

Add coconut milk and mix well

Cook until you get a dark brown color, as shown in the picture below
- Switch off stove and transfer to a serving bowl.
- Let it cool for about 2 minutes and then serve
Tips:
- Goes really well with Biryani, rice, naan, breads etc.
- If the taste is on the spicy side, you can add some sour cream directly to the dish about 2 minutes before removing from the stove
