Simple Chicken Fry

This is a super simple recipe that was a huge hit with my family and friends and I have tried different variations so far. The flavors are awesome and the best part is there is no deep frying, no oil and no pan frying either.

I am using an Air Fryer to fry the chicken without any oil. Recently bought a medium size air fryer during Black Friday 2021 sales. And this is one of those kitchen essentials that is a must have in every kitchen, probably next to a microwave.

Started with French fries, whole chicken fry, cut chicken fry with mild and heavy spices and so on. These should appear shortly as future recipes in this site. For the simple chicken fry lets look at the ingredients and steps


Ingredients

  • 2lbs chicken thighs or pieces, no skin
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tsp ginger powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp ground fresh green chillies – optional

Steps

  • Place the chicken pieces in a large mixing bowl
  • Add all ingredients listed above
  • Ground fresh green chillies is highly recommended.
  • Mix thoroughly, cover the bowl with cling film and let it marinate for about 30 minutes in the fridge
  • When the chicken is ready to be cooked, place the chicken pieces in a single layer in the Fryer basket
  • Place the basket in the fryer
  • Set the Air Fryer temp to 400F
  • Set the timer to 20 minutes
  • Switch ON the fryer
  • At about 10 minutes, or when the Air Fryer beeps to turn, remove the basket and flip the chicken pieces
  • Cook for 10 more minutes
  • Once done, remove the fried chicken pieces carefully and place in a serving bowl/plate
  • Let it sit for a minute, and enjoy.
